American artist Megan Knapp is lauded for her exceptional artistry, rich tone, and versatility.  Ms. Knapp’s most recent concert engagements include Carmina Burana, with the Connecticut Choral Society; Verdi's Requiem, Beim Schlafengehen from Strauss’ Four Last Songs & Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony with New Jersey Choral Society. Other solo orchestral works include: Rutter’s Mass of the Children at Carnegie Hall; Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony in London’s Cadogan Hall with the London International Orchestra of Academia; Bach’s Magnificat with the New Jersey Choral Society; Schubert’s Mass in G, Bach’s Hunting Cantata, and Mozart’s Laudate Dominum with the Connecticut Choral Society; and Mozart’s Alleluja and Mascagni’s Ave Maria at St. Malachy’s Church in New York City.  Megan was selected to sing in the prestigious Deborah Polaski master class at the Manhattan School of Music in collaboration with the George London Foundation.  In July 2017, Ms. Knapp will be performing Verdi’s Requiem at Italy’s stunningly beautiful Lake Como in collaboration with Classic Performances.

 

Megan performed in stunning performances of the Fauré Requiem at L’église de la Madeleine in Paris, France as part of The Normandy Festival in 2014.  Of the Paris production, a reviewer wrote that Ms. Knapp ‘reveals an astonishingly beautiful voice.’

 

Megan has joined with the MasterVoices chorale to sing Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony with Maestro Zubin Mehta and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra at Carnegie Hall.  In November, 2016, Ms. Knapp also joined with the Bard Festival Chorus for a rarely performed Strauss opera Friedenstag under the direction of Maestro Leon Botstein.  As a member of the New York Choral Artists, Megan performed Verdi’s Requiem with Maestro Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic at Avery Fisher Hall and Ravel’s Daphnis and Chloe in collaboration with the San Francisco Symphony at Carnegie Hall under the direction of the renowned Maestro Michael Tilson Thomas.  

 

Comfortable both on the operatic stage and in concert, Ms. Knapp performed her NYC opera debut as Iris in Handel’s Semele.  Megan has performed in numerous scene programs and opera galas as Donna Anna in Don Giovanni and the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro.  Additionally, Megan sings a wide range of opera repertory including: Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte; Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier, Ellen Orford in Britten’s Peter Grimes; and the title roles in Massenet’s Thaἲs, Dvořák’s Rusalka, Floyd’s Susanna, and Strauss’ Arabella.

 

A native of Nebraska, Megan holds a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance from the Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.  Ms. Knapp has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors including the distinguished Matti Jenni Scholarship for excellence in academic and music performance.
